I grew up in a small town, most of which had only been built for 30yrs when I was born. There really is nothing much to do here. We have 1 Asda, 1 Half empty shopping center, 2 Gyms, 1 Library and few pubs/resturants. Nothing to see here but beautiful countryside on the outer edges and concrete jungles inbertween. My Town is a result of a big unique dream from the 70s that ran out of money and remained unfinished. Amazing for its time but then left greatly behind. Looking back at its short history it would seem there was more to do back when its was first built, the town has slowly fallen apart.
2017 They have been making plans for a long time and i mean like 10 - 15 yrs + long. Only now are we seeing a small trickle of those plans to better the town but its still no where nere what my town needs!
In my town there is a certain family who own many cornor shops and proppoties, this family have been around since before I was born. They have increased their empire over the years and renovated building, even built new homes. Yes to make their family richer but I really admire what they have done because they have given alot to the community, made the area that little bit better looking and provided jobs, homes, food etc ...
This is what my town really needs more of, this is how communities grow. This is what YOUR area and every other place needs. I oftern spend my money in their shops to support them because they are supporting us. Rather my money go back into my community then just spend it all at Asda which just dissapears when all bills and staff are paid.
Please think about where you live and where the money you spend end ups. I love my hometown dispite all it lacks and can't wait to raise my children here oneday. I hope I can always do my part to help make the future brighter.
Supporting your local shops & businesses rather then the mainstream stores will make YOUR town richer, you and your family richer rather then just feeding money into a pit where it sits and does nothing useful for anyone.
