Hi everybody! I was thinking about sharing some turkish music here, and Yavuz Çetin would also be included. But I decided to make it special for him.
When Yavuz Çetin killed himself by jumping off the Bosphorus Bridge, he was 31 years old (and I was 4). I can't remember the exact time but I think I was around 12 when I started to listen his music. And thanks to puberty, I could understand his pain. I was watching the interviews of his son and his friends and they were making me cry.
He has the purest voice, and he made the purest music. And I think he was one of the purest lovers on the earth. In ''Seni Çok Istiyorum'' (I Want You So Much) he said:
''I waited 4 years, 11 months, 15 days, 3 hours, 5 minutes and 3 seconds for you.''
So I was growing up as a Yavuz Çetin fan, reading and watching interviews. And then I met his son. He is one of my closest friends right now. Actually he is more than a friend, he is in my family. By knowing him, my admiration for his father grew up. Because now I know he was not just a great musician, he was a great father and a great person.
But his illness was making life hard to live for him. In 2001, he published his last album ''Satılık''. If you listen this album, if you read the lyrics, you can see that he was leaving.
In August 15, 2001 he escaped from the hospital where he was treated, took his car, drove to the Bosphorus Bridge. And the Golden Boy didn't want to live anymore.
As the words written in his tombstone ''It all ends as it begins.''
