Because I hear a melody in the distance, I can recognize the notes of a song that is often danced in my town at teenage girls' quinceanera parties. I hear in the distance "Tiempo de Vals", a song performed by the Puerto Rican-American singer Chayanne, which I remember hearing for the first time in 1990. It is a melody that is already danced as part of the traditional festivals to celebrate that the "Niña" (girl) is now a "Señorita" (Miss), it is a way to update the traditional festival of "Presentation to the Society" that in the past tense it meant that the family was introducing their daughter of marriageable age and constituted a kind of "ritual of passage" for young women. At some point I heard complaints from some experts claiming that this was not a real Waltz, that what was played before, which used to be something like Strauss's Blue Danube, was what was traditional. Debido a que escucho una melodía a lo lejos, puedo reconocer las notas de una canción que en mi localidad se suele bailar en las fiestas de quince años de las adolescentes. Escucho a lo lejos "Tiempo de Vals", una canción interpretada por el cantante puertorriqueño-estadounidense Chayanne, que yo recuerdo haber escuchado por primera vez en 1990.
