瀬戸内海の小豆島の、ほぼ中央に位置する渓谷、寒霞渓（かんかけい）。およそ1300万年前の火山活動によってできた岩石が、地殻変動や侵食を経て、今の絶景を作り上げたと言われています。2019年4月に寒霞渓を訪れた際の写真です。
A valley located in the center of Shodoshima Island in the Seto Inland Sea, Kankakei.
It is said that the rock formed by the volcanic activity about 13 million years ago has made great views through crustal movement and erosion.
I visited there in April 2019.
1963年に寒霞渓ロープウェイが開通しました。標高295ｍの登山口から、標高612ｍの山頂まで、急な山を約5分で上ります。
The ropeway opened in 1963. The foot of the mountain is 295m above sea level, and the summit is 612m above sea level. You will climb this steep mountain in about 5 minutes.
そそり立つ岩山は、安山岩、集塊岩など。写真のように、ロープウェイの窓からは迫力のある岩山を望むことができます。

頂上にはいくつかの展望台があり、瀬戸内海、四国の景色を楽しむことができます。
There are observation decks at the top, and you can enjoy the view of the Seto Inland Sea and Shikoku.

観光地ならではの工夫もあり、カメラやスマートフォンをセットする台がいろいろな場所に置かれていて、このように簡単にセルフィーも楽しめます。
There was also a device unique to sightseeing spots. A platform with a camera and a smartphone set was placed in a scenic location. You can easily enjoy selfies like this.

寒霞渓を訪ねるにはいろいろな方法がありますが、私は香川県の高松港からフェリーで、小豆島の草壁港に渡りました。バスの時間には注意が必要ですが、港から出ているバスで、ロープウェイ乗り場までの往復が可能です。
There are various ways to visit Kankakei. I took a ferry from Takamatsu Port in Kagawa Prefecture to the Kusakabe Port on Shodoshima Island.
Care must be taken for the bus time, but it is possible to return to the ropeway stop by the bus leaving the port.
バスでロープウェイ乗り場まで行った後、ロープウェイに乗らず、登山道を通って徒歩で頂上まで行く方法もあります。迫力のある自然を楽しむなら、そちらもおすすめです。
After going to the ropeway stop by bus, there is also a way to go to the top by foot through the mountain trail without getting on the ropeway. If you enjoy the powerful nature, I would recommend it.
