The Ibrahim Baba Fountain (Κρήνη Ιμπραήμ Μπαμπά) is an Ottoman-era fountain located on Almyrou Street in Heraklion. It was built between 1669–1898, during Ottoman rule, and was attached to a dervish tekke (religious building) that no longer exists today.
It was once richly decorated with relief carvings and inscriptions, but today:
- Important elements (like the inscription and spout plaque) are missing
- Parts have been stolen or damaged
- The monument is in very poor condition and largely neglected
Historically, Heraklion had dozens of such fountains, serving both daily life and religious needs. Unfortunately many of them are destroyed or neglected and we may pass beside them without even recognizing them.
