Hello everyone !
I will tell you about our beginning of the van trip and the difficulties encountered! Before coming to Australia, we did not think it would be so hard to get used ... (especially for my girlfriend) We will talk about the benefits of van life later in an other post!
We bought our van in Perth in the Western Australia and from that moment the journey began !
For a Frenchman the first difficulty was driving on the left. I did not tend to be centered in the middle of the road when I drove... My girldfriend was scared : "you drive too much to the right" or "you drive too much to the left"! It was only the first hour we have the campervan.
Then we took the highway. And here, the fifth gear was very hard! Our van and its 260 000 kilometers on the clock was not very young.
Other difficulties were present... We did not have the comforts of home. No toilets or showers available in the van. The water did not flow from the tap... Every day, we were looking for a shower and toilet. Sometimes we did not find showers, so we smell very good, and nature was used as a toilet.
To do the dishes we had to find a tap, or settle us behind our van and run water from our can ...
The purpose of the van is to be able to sleep everywhere, but the first nights were hard. In fact, it was cold, we did not have quilt. We had less space than in a bed and everyone found that the other took up too much space...
The last negative point that I would like to talk about is having to unpack and repack all his stuff all the time. For example, to eat you had to take the table, the chairs, and the cooking equipment out of the van.
