Cinque Terre is a picturesque part of the Italian coast, which lies in the province of La Spezia, located in Liguria. It has five amazing locations: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. They lie in the Cinque Terre National Park, which protects rare species of flora and fauna. For centuries, the Cinque Terre towns were almost cut off from the world. The situation changed at the end of the 19th century, when the construction of a railway line - running along the coast of the Italian Riviera - started connecting the individual towns and the large port city of La Spezia. Today, it is the regional trains that reach the majority of tourists here.
