Long ago, I read an article about Ibiza and Mallorca, about tourism, and the kind of tourists that tend to congregate there. Personal experiences of various friends seemed to confirm these stories.
Ibiza was famous for an amazing nightlife, parties, and clubbing. Wild!
A heaven or haven for anyone who enjoys that sort of thing, it's just that I prefer a different kind of wild, and so, this wasn't anything I was interested in. Based on all those tales, I had little to no desire to visit any of the Balearic Islands, least of all these two.
However, as we all know, life has a way of creating previously improbable paths, and so, I have spent last week on Ibiza.
The following isn't a detailed travel log, but merely some thoughts and personal impressions of the island.
For those who may not be so familiar with Ibiza, the location, etc., here is a bit of info from Wikipedia:
Ibiza (Catalan: Eivissa) is an island in the Mediterranean Sea off the east coast of Spain. It is 150 kilometres (93 miles) from the city of Valencia. It is the third largest of the Balearic Islands, an autonomous community of Spain. Its largest settlements are Ibiza Town (Catalan: Vila d'Eivissa, or simply Vila), Santa Eulària des Riu, and Sant Antoni de Portmany. Its highest point, called Sa Talaiassa (or Sa Talaia), is 475 metres (1,558 feet) above sea level.
Ibiza is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
On a personal note...
There have been exceptions but, when I travel, I am more used to organizing and finding things out on my own so, in this case, I feel like I had a rather privileged experience, thanks to ,

If I had to describe Ibiza in 3 words or phrases, they would be...
Serene,
Wild,
Treasure trove.
❧
In conclusion, at least sometimes...
"Our focus determines our reality."
The old stories don't matter. Ibiza is a rich place, rich in diversity of experience, and you get to choose what kind you want to have, and so, I have returned from this journey with completely different stories than those I had previously heard about the island.
