Detroit is a city in the state Michigan in the US. Mostly known for its rock music, motown sound, museums, automobile culture, sports teams, arts, and theatres.
Detroit was founded in the 1700s by a French explorer and became an important industrial power in the 19th century. Being a leading edge in the car industry, it became the 4th biggest city of the US in the 20th century. However, due to automatisation of these jobs and suburbanization, the city came into decline. Eventually caused the city to go bankrupt in 2014.
After decades of decline, Detroit has seen many of its historic buildings renovated, and its downtown is full of activity with new developments and attractions. Young creative types fired up the scene when they began transforming the abandoned buildings into galleries, distilleries, bike shops and many other local shops. Detroit offers many things to see
and do, making it an exciting travel destination!
Be sure to try out a coney. Detroit is world-famous for the coney, a hot dog with chili, mustard, and chopped fresh onion.
