Rome, the capital and biggest city of Italy, is known for it's rich history. It was founded in 753 BC by Romulus. It's history stretches out for 2700 years and it has been one of main influences of the western culture. It was the capital of the Roman Empire. Romans showed off their keenness for building and architecture and many of the historic buildings and sites are well preserved today.
There are currently 900 churches and 281 fountains in Rome. In the most famous fountain, the Trevi Fountain, every night a total of 3000 euro is swept up for charity.
