A baby looks for the mother to be breastfed. She watches cautiously the photographer (me) protecting her progeny. The raising of cattle has great importance in the Venezuelan plains, first, it assures the continuous renewal of the flock and second, it ensures the traditional production of milk.
The traditional milking is a manual activity and very common in the Venezuelan plains, for it takes advantage of the period of lactation of the cows, taking care of always leaving enough food for breeding. Those in charge of doing it usually sing "tonadas" to relax the animal.
