There's this place in Turkmenistan called the Darvaza gas crater. It is also know as the "door to hell" or the "gates of hell". It is a natural gas field, which collapsed into an underground cave chamber. It became a natural gas crater. It is actually one of the tourist attractions in Turkmenistan. It almost looks like how one would expect the underworld to look.
