The Hotel Madrid Sieteislas is an incredibly different hotel. 'Siete Islas' means '7 islands', and the islands to which the name refers are the Canary Islands. The interior design was done by the Kikekeller design studio, the 7 Islas resembles an art gallery in an industrial warehouse – although originally it was a normal building that Juan Rosa, an empresario from Lanzarote, turned into a hotel. The hotel is also two minutes' walk from the rather more mainstream Gran Vía, with its shops and fastfood joints, and you can walk to other buzzy barrios such as Chueca and Conde Duque in five minutes or so. The Prado is around 20 minutes' walk away.
