On the way to a new adventure! On the last post we stopped in Calgary to take the break for several hours: find a bed, a small restaurant, a nice hot shower, and we leave!
Head for Glacier National Park. This park is located in the United States🇺🇸, so we must cross the border, little stress with everything we have in the car! But everything is ideal!
All the information in this post is taken from my trip and the visit of the surrounding places (such as the visitor center at the park entrance).
The more we arrive on the rockies the more we realize that there is a problem! Arriving in the city (Babb), the air is unbearable, a fire rages in the park🔥! After inquiring into my approximate English, we are told that the fire should be contained quickly and that we will know the next morning if the park reopens. So we must find a campsite outside the smoke because with the little baby in my belly it makes me nauseous.
The next day we plan a hike (Iceberg lake trail) but we give up considering my nauseous condition of pregnant woman! So we go on the "Going to the Sun" tourist route through the park, while waiting for the park to open we go to the service center and we learn a lot about glaciers. For example, their number in the park has dropped sharply: in 100 years they have gone from 100 to 50 and in 2020 probably 0 if nothing is done! (This figure was good in 2015, I can not imagine the result now!). It is also a park with one of the best preserved ecosystem of the United States, it is part of Unesco World Heritage!
Once at Logan Pass we hike the Hidden lake trail. This hike takes us through an alpine meadow (yes alpine!), A pass, then once arrived at the pass, we discover a beautiful lake with steep mountains around🏔️!
It is also high that we see mountain goats 🐐, we observe them for a long time and try to find others thanks to our binoculars.
The descent is winding but really fantastic, with a beautiful panorama. Below we go along a river that feeds Lake Mc Donald, this river is translucent! And that the water is good! We also have news of the fire that raged the day before in the park, he just moved to an inaccessible place in the park so they decide to let nature do as long as there is no danger.
We head for Red Lodge at the entrance of the Beartooth Highway to YELLOWSTONE! Short posts coming with beautiful pictures and discoveries!
