The day has finally come for me to take off for beautiful volcanic Guatemala! I am so excited to share my experiences with all of you here in this wonderful community. In today's post I will go over my itinerary and what to expect from my daily travel blogs.
What I will be doing today while you are 'Steemin'... is travelling from Toronto to Mexico and then Finally arriving in Guatemala. See my video below on my thoughts before departing.
Itinerary
As you may know, I am Canadian and living in currently cold Toronto. This morning we will be first heading to Mexico city as there are no direct flights to Guatemala.
Wait... what? No direct flights?? Where is this remote place?
I was surprised that there where no direct flights from Toronto as we are a major airport and usually have flights to every country. Well this adventure just got that much more interesting!
After a comfortable 5.5 hour flight and 2 hour lay over (just enough time to get some Mexican cuisine), we will be off to Guatemala!
Where I will be in Guatemala
The main airport where all major international flights come into, is Guatemala City, the capital of the country. It is not the safest city...especially for a gringo like myself, so most travelers head straight to Antigua. Which is exactly what we will be doing. 😆
This is typically about an hour drive so we should make it to our hotel just after dinner time. I will make sure to show you all the exciting things I see along the way.
We will be in Antigua for about 5 days and then we had to Lake Atitlan..the most beautiful lake in the WORLD! Lots of exciting stuff will be happening in both cities and of course will be venturing out of them whenever possible. I will make sure to make it memorable for us all!
The last couple days of our trip we may stay in Guatemala city or Antigua. Will make the call when down there...to spice things up. 😜
Got the Excitement Jitters
Firstly, I cannot wait to start posting my own beautiful unique pictures of Guatemala. I will be daring to make sure I get the best shots I can! We will be hiking up one of there active volcanoes, so that will definitely be a great highlight. I am a very adventurous person so I got you all covered!
As mentioned before, this country is predominantly Spanish speaking and I know about 10 words. So that should make things interesting for us.😂 As long as I can get my meals in, all will be great!!
I don't want to spoil the whole trip so I will leave it at that. Thank you all for your kind comments and support. This community is really building on me and I am so grateful to be apart of it. Love you all!
