Howdy! Welcome aboard our first Voyage! We are about to set sail on our way to the happiest place on earth! We're going to Disney World!
In 2012 I spent 6 months living in Disney housing and working as a full time intern at Walt Disney World. As a Friendship Boat Captain I had to work 50- 60 hours a week. Shifts were hard! Few breaks, minimum wage, and co workers who cared more about about a paycheck then making anyone feel welcomed to be around. The only thing that's kept one going was the amazing time you could have after work and the fascinating people you would meet back in housing!
During the six months I was there I made friends like I had never had before! Friends who you could drink with, dance with, party with, and grow with. Friends that went through their own struggles and hardships. Friends that four years latter are still there to support and comfort me and when we are worlds apart.
My time at Walt Disney World may not have been the Happiest Place to work as an intern but it was the Happiest Place in The World to make Friends! If it wasn't for those friends and that minimum wage job I never would have had the opportunities I got for years to follow. I never would have been The Captain. I never would have seen the world! And I'm happy to say that four years later I work for Walt Disney Workd again. This time it's worth every hour spent!
