The Cape Winelands was only an hour away from where we were staying in Kommetjie, so naturally we arranged to spend a whole day in the area.
My wife and I aren’t
major drinkers but do we enjoy a good glass of red wine every now and then. We’ve both really enjoyed Warwick Wine and Warwick always seems to be our go-to wine when we feel like purchasing a bottle.
Warwick Estate is a family-owned and run winery. It feels a lot more personal than all the other "big names" out there. The property has a number of cute picnic spots right next to the dam which are great for relaxing, having some snacks from their pre-packed picnic baskets and sipping away at their amazing wine.
It was good to see that Warwick has an interest in saving our bees. We found this poster just outside the main building.
The little café and shop is very neatly decorated with wine bottles on display all around. We naturally stuck around for a cup of cappuccino 😉
The walls are also filled with some great awards they have achieved over the years and some amazing photographs. There was even a letter from Michelle Obama 😳😁
Seeing that there is a
very limited selection of Warwick wines in our area, we really couldn’t resist signing up as Warwick Wine Club members! 😄 The staff were so friendly they even gave us a free wine tasting so we could decide which wines to place on our first order. Surprisingly, my wife even enjoyed a few of their white wines! Our first bottles will be delivered in November 🍾
As we were about to leave, this little guy flew in and landed right at out feet. He really wasn’t scared of us and even let us get close enough to feed him.
If you ever in the Stellenbosch area, make sure you pay these guys a visit. Great staff and amazing wines!! Even the kids can have a blast 😁
