My wife and I spent last weekend at the Delta Hotel Burnaby before transferring to the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver earlier this week. The hotel is less than ten miles outside downtown Vancouver and is accessible by public transportation.
Delta Hotel Burnaby is attached to a casino. My wife and I don't gamble, so there was no value added for us. There are several restaurants attached to the hotel, due in large part to the casino. So there are some meal options without requiring use of the shuttle. We took one meal at a noodle shop in the casino but chose to travel away from the hotel for most of our meals.
Check in at the hotel was quick and easy. Delta is a Marriott property now, so I paid with my points, which included access to the concierge lounge on the 20th floor. That meant we had a nice free breakfast each morning.
The room itself was large and clean. We had a corner room which is slightly larger than the middle rooms. The bed was comfortable, which is my number one criteria in a hotel. The room was nicely appointed and came with a safe and small refrigerator.
Our room didn't have have a view to speak of, but that isn't high on my list of importance in a hotel room. The staff was exceedingly friendly and accommodating. The location wasn't ideal, but was serviced by a shuttle on the half hour. One to the metro line, the other to the millennium line. Both offer quick access to downtown.
Overall, I enjoyed our stay at Delta Hotel. The friendly staff, impeccable cleanliness, comfortable bed, nice amenities and access to public transportation made for a comfortable stay. I would definitely consider staying at this hotel again. In spite of the fact that neither my wife or I gamble.
