Barcelona is an ideal choice for summer holidays. The city of Gaudi is a complex destination that can satisfy all your travel preferences. Whether you want to visit museums, relax at the beach, taste local dishes or discover the wonderful works of art made by architect Antoni Gaudi's plans, Barcelona has it all.
We spent 6 days of story in Barcelona in mid-June, during which I tried to experience the entire tourist offer of the metropolis.
Sagrada Familia
The Sagrada Familia, the masterpiece of the architect Antoni Gaudi, is one of the main tourist attractions in Barcelona. Prepare to be amazed at this impressive construction. If you intend to discover the interior of the Sagrada Familia, you must schedule your visit before. I recommend that you buy your ticket online and think twice about your visit plan. It is important to respect the time on the ticket. A tour of the cathedral varies between 15 and 29 euros.
If you are disappointed with the Sagrada Familia, you will not have reproaches. The cathedral is still under construction, and the area where the new works blend with the old ones is, in my view, disappointing.
Passeig de Gracia and Gaudi's buildings
Another important artery of Barcelona is Passeig de Gracia and connects Avinguda Diagonal and Plaça Catalunya. On this street you can admire the famous Casa Batllo and La Pedrera. If you are not happy to just admire Gaudi's works outside, schedule your visit in advance to avoid endless queues of tickets and to spare yourself the surprise of buying a ticket that allows you access inside after a few hours or even The next day.
Port Vell Teleferic and Miramar Gardens
For a splendid experience and stunning views of Barcelona, take a fun ride to Port Vell. The cable car will take you to the Miramar Gardens and you will be able to admire the spectacular panoramic views of the city during your journey and destination.
Explore the Miramar Gardens, and from here choose to return to the city for a walk. You will have the surprise to discover spectacular areas that do not appear in tourist guides. I spent a few hours strolling through the Miramar Gardens and admiring the panoramic view over the port of Barcelona. I happened to arrive in the Jardin de Mossen where I came across an impressive collection of cacti. If you also like the flowers with thorns, then Jardin de Mossen passes on the list of sights you can visit in Barcelona.
D'Espana Plate and Montjuic Magic Fountains
Another famous square of Barcelona is Placa DEspanya, guarded by the two huge columns that open your way to the famous Montjuic Magic Fountains. Visit the DEspanya Plateau during the evenings to enjoy the show of lights, water games, and melodies from the fountains. The gaming and light program of the fountain is only held from Thursday to Sunday, between 19.30 and 23.30, in the summer season.
Above Placa D`Espanya and the Magic Fountains Montjuic overlooks another impressive Barcelona building. It is the National Palace, a true architectural masterpiece that houses the Catalan National Art Museum. Walk on the palace's terraces and enjoy the wonderful city views and if time and physical conditions allow, take it to the Poble Espanyol to admire the cultural and architectural heritage of Spain.
Maritime Aquarium Barcelona
No visit to Barcelona is complete without discovering the secrets of the underwater environment at Barcelona's Marine Aquarium. Here you can admire sea creatures from jellyfish, sea cats and clown fish to penguins, corals and sharks. Visiting the Barcelona Aquarium is more flexible than other tourist attractions. You can buy an online ticket, you also get a discount and it is valid for 90 days from the moment of purchase. If you feel brave or are looking for extreme sensations, you can swim with the sharks at the Barcelona Aquarium.
