Today, I am traveling back to Chiang Mai to continue my wanderings there. It feels nice to say that because Chiang Mai is one of those places that gives me a calm kind of excitement. It is not the kind of excitement that comes from tall buildings, loud streets, or a fast-paced city life. It is more like the feeling of knowing that I will be surrounded again by a slower rhythm, warm people, and a place that still feels close to its roots.
My journey started at the airport, and as usual, I was already taking photos even before the flight took off LOL. There is something about airports that always gives me a sense of anticipation. Seeing the planes parked outside, the airport vehicles moving around, and the wide open sky above the runway made me feel that another adventure was about to begin.
Once the plane started moving and eventually lifted from the ground, the view outside the window immediately became the highlight of the trip. I was lucky to have a window seat, and I always appreciate that because flying gives a totally different perspective of the world. The city slowly became smaller, the buildings turned into tiny blocks, and the roads looked like thin lines drawn across the land.
As we flew higher, I could see a much wider view of the landscape. From above, everything looks so organized and peaceful. The fields appeared like patches of different shades of green and brown, while rivers curved through the land like natural drawings. It is amazing how different the world looks from a high altitude. Places that may feel busy and complicated on the ground suddenly look calm and simple from the sky.
What caught my attention the most were the clouds. Some of them looked soft, bright, and harmless from where I was sitting, but I realized that some of those clouds were probably carrying rain. From above, they looked so beautiful and peaceful, but down below, someone might be experiencing heavy rain. I guess that is also how life works sometimes. Depending on where we are looking from, the same thing can appear very different. It is really all about perspective.
That thought stayed with me during the flight. Traveling always has this effect on me. It resets my mind and gives me new motivation. I remember mentioning this to one of my colleagues before, that traveling gives me fresh energy to keep going, especially when work and routine start to feel repetitive. For me, it is not only about visiting a new place or taking photos. It is also about giving myself a chance to breathe, think, and return with a better mood.
Chiang Mai is a perfect place for that kind of reset. Compared to Bangkok, it feels more relaxed and grounded. Bangkok has its own amazing energy, but Chiang Mai has a charm that feels more personal. It is where you can still feel the village community of Thailand, even while modern cafes, malls, and new developments are slowly becoming part of the city.
I honestly feel like Chiang Mai will not become a metropolis like Bangkok, and maybe that is a good thing. Its current state is what makes it special. The calm vibe, the mountain backdrop, the temples, the local neighborhoods, and the slower pace are the reasons why I enjoy coming back.
As the plane continued its journey, I kept looking outside the window, watching the clouds, the land, and the wing cutting through the blue sky. It felt like the beginning of another meaningful chapter of wandering.
Anyway, I am happy to be returning to Chiang Mai once again.
See you on my next adventures!
