Dear Steemit friends and followers,
Welcome to my Travel Tip series where I promote some of the most beautiful places, interesting landmarks and impressive architectural sites of my homeland, the Czech Republic.
Today, I will take you to another spectacular medieval castle, the castle of Krivoklat.

Perched on a rock above the town of the same name in Central Bohemia (about a one-hour drive from Prague), the Krivoklat Castle is a majestic Gothic castle built in the late 12th and early 13th century during the reign of Premysl Otakar, one of the most prominent Czech kings.
Renowned for its stunning medieval exterior and beautiful natural surroundings, the castle now serves as a museum, popular tourist destination and place for theatrical exhibitions.

Visitors can choose from several different tours of the castle´s interiors, ranging in length (45 to 80 minutes) and price (120 – 170 CZK). The castle houses impressive collections of hunting weapons, Gothic paintings and other old artworks. There is also a large library containing more than 52,000 books.
The infamous Torture Chamber is the scariest place of the castle while the Great Tower offers astonishing views of the nearby hills and dense forests. The Royal Hall is the largest hall in the country, right after the legendary Vladislav Hall at the Prague Castle.
The Krivoklat Castle has also been featured in numerous films including some of the most popular Czech tales and musicals.
