I am in love with Australia’s Red Centre, don’t ask me why I simply have no answer to that question.
My motorhome adventure through this magical country sadly finished but I collected thousands of memories.
Traveling in a small home on wheels have its advantages, you are in no hurry to get to your planned destination and if something catches your eye you can freely stop and spend there as much time as you like. One of those places was a total surprise for me. About 150 km away from Alice Springs we stumbled upon unexpected site... a huge statue of Aboriginal man on top of the hill. My immediate reaction was telling my husband to stop. We entered small village called Aileron and the moment we passed bushes in front of us appeared even more beautiful site.
‘Anmatjere Woman and Child’
Aileron includes a roadhouse, accommodation and an art gallery, but these features are completely overshadowed by two massive statues.
This mobile photo snap of me standing next to it just illustrate how big Aileron statues actually are.
Even cactus which is decorating art gallery front yard looked quite interesting.
‘Anmatjere Man’ is 17 metre tall and weighing 8 tonne, he strikes an impressive figure as he overlooks Aileron and the surrounding region. Both of these gigants are created by the same sculptor - Mark Egan.
Male statue was erected in December 2005. 'Anmatjere Woman and child' "joined" him in 2008.
The Anmatjere people have named the sculpture after Charlie Quartpot Ngwarray, who once lived in this area — he was a leader and an important man, a rainmaker.

Where ever you look you are surrounded by red dirt and bushes one of which looked as a great photo subject.

People around the world have no idea how some everyday things which we take for granted are hard to find in secluded areas, one of them is simple mobile phone reception, so where ever we noticed that reception bar on phone has few lines we immediately stopped and made few calls.
I will finish this little travel blog with few more photos of that huge Aboriginal mum...and if you one day visit Australian Red Centre don't miss to visit this place just 150 km north of Alice Springs you won't regret it!
