Labasin Waterfalls Restaurant, Villa Escudero
Raphael's annual school field trip was done last December, and this time the students had cultural-immersion (and lots of F-U-N!) in Villa Escudero Plantations and Resort located at Tiaong, Quezon, about 100 kilometers away from his school.
The distance is magnified by heavy traffic in the metro. The school arranged for a couple of tour buses. We started our travel at 4:30AM and arrived onsite by 9:00AM.
The travel was all worth it. Every single nook is picturesque.
ACTIVITIES
If going on a day-trip as we did, there are scheduled activities you can enjoy. These includes a visit to the museum and hydro-powerplant, carabao cart rides, bamboo rafting, dip in the pool and sumptuous meals.
Museum
The Escudero museum is home to one of the country’s largest private collections of world antiquities. The collection includes religious artifacts, a display of old clothing, jewelry and home essentials that showed a glimpse of their way of life in the past, an impressive array of weaponry, and preserved bugs which is popular to the kids.
It is forbidden to take photos inside, and you must deposit your belongings to the staff prior to entering the place.
BAMBOO RAFTING
There are rafts for rent where you can enjoy the peaceful still waters of the river. It is such a sight to see, however full caution is necessary as still it may seem, this body of water runs deep, with over a 100 feet!
WATERFALL RESTAURANT
The Labasin Waterfalls Restaurant is one of the center-pieces of Villa Escudero. Traditional Filipino food is served buffet-kamayan style, enjoyed on tables over the flowing, running water of the river. We enjoyed grilled fish, grilled meat, tamarind soup, and a variety of fruits and vegetables. They also sell fresh coconut juice!
The kids also enjoyed some time having a dip in the waterfalls!
Rafa isn't having fun.
He's having SOOOO MUCH FUN!!!!!
You may also opt to dine at the Coconut Pavilion. The place is beautifully-decorated, a great showcase of Filipino deco in a rustic way.
SWIMMING POOLS
There are a couple of pools in the resort- a kiddie and adult pool. A guardian mus be looking after a minor at all times when in adult pool. But kids will surely go for the kiddie pool, as it features a mini-playground as well.
You may also enjoy having a visit at the Hydroelectric Power Plant.
Carabao Cart Ride
A carabao and a cart can take you from point A to point B of the plantation. Although it was an enjoyable experience, Raphael actually felt sorry for the carabao, having the need to take on our weight.
Play Area
There is also a play are for the kids to use. Slides and swings will forever be popular to the kids of course!
I realized I've shared a great-many photos here, and have kept a lot more on file. The place is truly memorable, even for a 6-year old boy. In fact, i wrote about it today because he said this: "Mommy remember the place where my field trip was and we swim and we played? Let's go back there!"
I said we surely will. But for now he sleeps.
