The Stonecat, an old, abandoned army base bunker located on the shores of Seneca Lake, has featured in many a post of mine since I discovered steemit in 2016.
Located on state land about twenty yards from the age of the lakefront property my family owned until my dad passed and mom decided to sell four years ago.
Even though it wasn't technically ours, it was so close that people assumed it was, so growing up it was my fort, and only friends of mine hung out there.
This changed when kids discovered it after my siblings and I were grown (evidenced by the graffiti on the walls)
But I have to say I'm super glad it was not on our actual property, this way it will always be available to me!
After some swimming I cracked open a beer...or two, put on my headphones and belted out Call Me Al, haha, you can even hear the whistling at the end of you listen closely XD
Really, I should've sang this one again, I was thinking how nice it would be if it were like old times and my buddies were there.
Apparently my singing was like a siren song, because a few minutes later I see this down below, and my heart soared!
I was ten when we moved from Long Island to this place, and just down the street was another ten year old girl...
...yep, this chica 😆
Thirty five years of this fabulous grin!
(And I didn't even know she was in town! She was going to surprise me at my house, but this was way better 😁)
Thirty five years of this fabulous view shared between us!
The weather has been wonky of late, it can't seem to decide-
"Am I a nice day? Am I gonna storm?"
Just as we were musing about whether to take the party back to her parents place..YOO HALOO!
Another of the brat pack makes an appearance, this time from above 😆🥂
Thirty Three years with this babe! Currently visiting from North Carolina
I so wish we had Then pictures here to go with the now, but if anyone ever used a camera at this place back then, we don't recall it.
Anddd the storm seemed to be rolling in- once upon a time, the wind and waves picking up like this guaranteed that.
So we traipsed back down the shore for shelter...
...that we didn't end up needing, but this familiar dock served our purpose just as well :0)
After which, fire time! (I let Maria struggle with it for a bit XD)
Before taking over with my expert skills...then Enter brat pack member #4!
I wish I could've captured the rest, but that would have required a night sight GoPro...
Swimming under the stars will have to remain as snapshots in my memory!
