Flowers may be the last thing on your mind as one criterion for choosing a place to travel to. Dalat, a city in the highlands of Vietnam, may change your mind though.
This city, also known as the City of Flowers, showcases flowers in public spaces such as streets and public parks. These add beauty to the place known for its cool weather, lakes, forests and abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables.
While some flower gardens are given serious landscaping (maintained by the government), other flower gardens are simply maintained in such a way that certain variety of flower is planted in a certain area.
For instance, if you plant one or two hydrangeas in one corner, the effect is ordinary. But if you plant hundreds or thousands of hydrangea in one corner, the effect is simply stunning. This is precisely what the local government of Dalat has done: plant massive number of a certain variety of flower in certain corners and the effect is simply beautiful.
