Best, or the worst, part about travelling are the people you meet. I usually try to avoid most human contacts, because 99 percent of the time I end up hating everyone and I can’t wait to get out of the situation and enjoy the solitude life.
Few months ago, one late night in Danger Zone, arose the idea of some of us “meeting in the middle”, aka in Tallinn, Estonia. After a very brief exchange of words with my bff , we booked the boat tickets and hotel to Tallinn, with the idea that even if anyone else couldn’t make it, we would have each other and we’d have fun just the two of us.
Months went by and only occasionally we would talk about the meet up and who was going to be there. There were some that wanted to come, but due to this and that, couldn’t make it. In the end, the crew was me, ,
,
,
(+her cute baby),
,
,
, and a new addition
, who is now part of the ever growing Danger Zone family.
I’m sure all of us had some doubts about meeting Steemians in real life, even when we seem to enjoy each others company online, it’s usually different from real life. With all honesty, I was prepared to hate some of you guys, just because the odds are that I end up disliking most people after I meet them. But that was not the case at all, almost immediately after meeting everyone, I felt right at home joking around with everyone. I think when we eventually all met, the awkwardness of meeting “strangers” only lasted for a minute and after that, we were like old friends. I am truly baffled by that.
Trust me, they are having fun! This is what we all look like now, in mourning for the good times we had.
From the photography trip to more and less horrible drinks in a mouldy cave, eating in Hell, getting lost in the streets of Old Town, to drinking “take away coffee” (read: public alcoholism in disguise), we had so much fun and we didn’t need any special activities to enjoy each others company. If you want more inside on our weekend, go lurk on all the posts people did from the weekend, and you’ll get a pretty good idea about us and our fun times.
Sadly I didn’t take any pictures of all of us, but together with everyones posts about the weekend, there is so many funny pictures of us, mostly looking very happy, except , with his lovely grumpy teenage face :D I also love reading what everyone wrote about the meet up and reminiscing about the good times we had.
I’m the kind of person who saves tickets and little things like that from trips that I really want to remember. Our group polaroid is still missing from here, but I’ll add it to the board next time I see .
It’s time to wrap up the Tallinn part of the meet up, as we got on the boat with and
and kidnapped
with us, to extend our weekend getaway just a little more in Hellsinki.
