Today i'm gonna tell you about a visit to " One of the largest man-planted forest( changa manga) " The planting and irrigation of land took place in ( 1890 A.D ) by the British to provide for the fule. It is located near about "80 km in the south of Lahore ( PUNJAB) PAKISTAN. It is extended over 48.6 km (1200 acers).
Why it is known as Changa Manga???
The story of its name is very interesting ........ CHANGA MANGA named after two brothers Changa and manga. who were thieves and used to hide in thick forest to escape the authorities. story of these brothers turned in to adventures that every one in area knows about.
Variety of species :
Changa Manga is one of the oldest man planted forest and carries a variety of species. These species are divided into two groups.
- Flora (plants )
- Fauna (animals )
Flora (Plants ) :
Changa manga is the habitat for plants including Dalbergia sissoo (sheesham) , Acacia nelotica (kiker), Morous alba (White mulberry) and bombacs ceiba (simal ).
Fauna (animal ):
Which includes 14 mammal species, including hog deer, jackal ,mouflon, nil gai and wild boar. 50 species of birds including Indian peafowl ,gyps bengalensis and other asiatic valtures etc.
Attractive for the tourists :
The forest is houses of wild life park , water fall , a water turbine and children's playing area tourists tourists also enjoy the train ride through the forest and boating on the Mahtabi lake . It is so attractive, and fascinating for the tourists.In addition to this Changa manga also has a tourists resort a charming place for the recreation.
