Sonargon is the ancient capital of Bengal.
Actually, the capital it became only in the 13th century and fell into decline with the arrival of the Great Mongols.
Now this small city is not far from Dhaka, the modern capital of Bangladesh, with a population of about 4000 people. For a country with a population of almost 200 million, this is a very, very small city.
It is included in the World Monuments Fund. On the territory of the park with the palace of the Great Mongols there is a historical museum, a library, an exhibition of folk crafts, attractions. It is unfortunate that the palace and artifacts were closed for reconstruction and we could not get inside.
Workers of the museum with great delight did with us SELFI and photographed my entry in the guest book, so it seems foreign tourists there is rare))
But I was happy to visit this place , after more or less modern Dakha , Sonargon really gave me atmosphere of old city and let to feel colorite of Bengal .
