I really really like to travel....
And up till now I have always gone south to the sun or in case of our new zealand trip we even followed the summer.
This time we are making a change and our decision fell on Iceland.
So far it has been amazing although really cold. As I am writing this we are on the second day hoping for our chance to see the northern lights.
But for now I will share the arrival day and what we visited. The journey started off very well after our arrival in the car rental company since we got an upgrade of our car thanks to the people we booked with https://www.islandspezialisten.de/.
I had booked a dacia duster but instead we got this cool jeep. (It really gave me a masculinity boost)
So after taking off we immediately took a small detour to the Reykjanes lighthouse south of the airport (which is 45k from Reykjavík) and had a chance to test my cool new Jeep for the week. And after that we moved on to one of the big attractions close to the capital...
the blue lagoon. This is a filtered rest of the water that is pumped up by the geathermal plant next door. They pump this up from 2 km below the earth where salt and sweet water mix. On the way up the water picks up silica and minirals that give it its unique colour.
We just wandered in and wanted to use these healing waters to start our holiday off right but apparently you have to book in advance. Its always busy. (we were not the only ones wanting to bathe in rest water from a power plant). So now we have booked for the evening before we leave in order to return relaxed. But we did manage some shots outside of the compound.
