The MANN museum in Naples has myriad ancient artifacts from different eras ranging from ancient Greek, Roman, and Renaissance times but none are as unique as the erotic art exhibit from the cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum. These are two cities that were destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 CE. The people of Pompeii seemed to have been highly sexual. When visiting the ruins of Pompeii you can even find phallic symbols on some of the ruins. Here are a few of the pieces displayed in the exhibit. This is predominantly a very phallic exhibit. I was highly impressed by the exhibits present at the MANN and suggest a visit if ever in Naples. Both the Farnese Atlas and Hercules statues can be found here among other famous works.
