Every year, Global Finance experts rank the safest countries in the world. Each country is rated according to an index that reflects the risk of war, the personal safety of citizens and the likelihood of a natural disaster.
At the top of the list is Iceland - it is not involved in military conflicts, natural disasters are rare, and crime is extremely low. Followed by Switzerland and Finland. Interestingly, there are 15 European countries in the top 20.
This result is possible thanks to the developed economy and the health system, experts say. Among the leaders are Portugal , Austria , Norway , Denmark , Slovenia , Sweden , Czech Republic, Belgium , Germany .
The number of safe countries outside Europe includes: Qatar , Singapore , New Zealand - 10th, Canada - 11th and Australia - 18th. Bulgaria ranked 42nd in the ranking, outpacing most of our neighboring countries. We are 41st in Botswana, in South Africa, and 43th in Japan. Greece remains 57, Serbia 58, Macedonia 59th, Turkey is 107th.
