The extreme drought in Spain has brought to the surface in the reservoir of Aguilar del Campoo, in Palencia, the old church of Santa Eugenia de Cenera de Zalima, a Romanesque building dating from the late 12th and early 13th centuries, belonging to a town that was submerged in the 1960s by the waters.
The appearance of monuments and ancient buildings in water dams is a phenomenon that occurs on rare occasions, especially in times of extreme drought. The descent of the Tagus river flow has discovered the illustrious La Isabela Spa, built by Fernando VII in the 19th century. The remains of this seaside town are located near the towns of Cañaveruelas and Sacedón, in the province of Guadalajara in Spain. The same thing has happened in the leonese reservoir of Barrios de Luna. The river Orbigo-Luna flooded 16 villages, such as Arévalo, Campo de Luna, La Canela or Ventas de Mallo, and today you can see its last partitions, which shine in the sun after many years of steeping.
