I have finally reached to the end of the day 2 with my Iceland posts here on Steemit. This day had so many places we went, uh crazy and tiring but worth it. This is going to be one of these posts that are going to contain many pictures because it's too hard for me to only show a couple of photos.
About 12 AM we reached our final destination on that day, the camping site where we decided to spend our night. There was also a waterfall named Skogafoss. This is located in southern Iceland on the cliffs where former coastline once was.
The Skógafoss is one of the biggest waterfalls in the country with a width of 15 meters and height of 60 meters.
By the way, this waterfall's scenery is used in several Hollywood movies and also in some Justin Bieber's music video( fuck this skunk )
See some long Exposure photos. On the first photo you can see how big this really is, there are some people for a scale for you.
Yes I know, it's a shame that this photo is out of focus... but that's the only long exposure one with people on it.
Our this day's journey didn't end there. I had so much energy in me after I took a couple of Jagermeister shots after the long drive. So I convinced my girlfriend to hike up the waterfall to see the view from above. After we got up there I saw the view that I couldn't see before, I couldn't hold myself not to take the little track and hike more up to the mountains. After a little more convincing my gf, we decided to take this. We are on Iceland, cmon, it's hiking heaven.
The only problem I had, I had to capture high ISO photos because it wasn't very bright outside anymore. Yeah, the quality loss is not great but it's worse to not take anything at all. It was the darkest point the night actually had, so not much of a night I could say :D
Above the Skogafoss waterfall
And our path continues
There were many smaller waterfalls on the river that lead to Skogafoss waterfall. The canyon the river had formed was a sight on its own.
You know what the best part was? We were alone, no tourist( well ordinary tourists wouldn't come to this trail anyway ) and no other hikers. We truly experienced the feeling to be alone in the wild with all the beautiful nature around us. I really missed this feeling and also missing it right now.
At this stage we were at the highest point we hiked there, It was about 500 meters above the sea level and it took us 2.5 hours from the camping site.
You can see a little snowy mountain in the photo below. Little earlier I thought that maybe we should hike there, doesn't seem too far a couple of hours more. Well no, Its really easy to miscalculate the mountainous distance with eyes only so I soon realized we can't make it today. It was already 2 AM in the night too.
When we finally got down and got a network connection I saw it would have taken another 5 hours to get there. Not too bad actually. Maybe, when I'm going back to Iceland at some point im gonna reserve the whole day to hike there.
Famous Icelandic sheep everywhere, even in a middle of nowhere in the mountains
When we finally got back to the camping site it was already full bright outside and sun up, it was about 4 AM.
What an experience!
Does someone even bother to read this till the end, say YES if you did ? :)
