Before entering the large ensemble of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra there is a modest church in honor of Sergius of Radonezh. But this is one of the pillars of the Russian Orthodox Church. The temple is dedicated to one of the most famous and revered Russian saints - St. Sergius, who lived in the XIV century forests on the territory of the present Moscow region, and founded the famous monastery - the Trinity-Sergius Lavra.
