Lagos, Nigeria.
If you haven't heard of this city, you have missed out in a lot. But to my greatest surprise I found myself in Lagos for the first time, and I was amazed, here are some informations and pictures, I took around Lagos
The Lagos State was created in the month of may 1967, previously before the independence of Nigeria, Lagos was a harbour mainly for slave trade, this was the custom of the the. Colonial masters, shipping off slaves from ports to Europe and Americas.
After the independence of Nigeria, Lagos became the capital of the country, due to its affluence and closeness to the Atlantic ocean, which aid the trade of the country, due to the exportation of cash crops(Cocoa, palmfruit and Cotton)
Till date, Lagos is still the economic capital of Nigeria, bringing in the highest revenue, for Nigeria.
Due to its economic capacity and development, Lagos has become densely populated, filled with people in their millions, heading in different directions like termites on different missions around their sand Castles
This most created a very dense traffic, most times a standstill, could last for over 2 hours.
Other than the traffic challenge, Lagos has a beautiful scenery, it is mainly divided into two municipalities, the mainland and the island, there is just one bridge that connects both regions, which is known as the third mainland bridge, it has a lengthy of 11.8km making it on the longest bridges in West Africa.
The major ethnicity in Lagos State, are the yorubas, known for their academic exploits and their lavish lifestyle and lest I forget their sweet meals. Pounded yam and egusi being their favourite
There is also a crave for the western cuisines, like the pizza, which serves mainly as an appetizer, before the main meal!
In a nutshell, I must say that Lagos is a beautiful place!
