इस ट्रैक का पैदल रास्ता बद्रीनाथ मन्दिर से शुरू हो जाता है, आगे यह रास्ता चरणपादुका तक जाता है जहां तक पैदल दूरी 3 किमी हो जाती है। चरणपादुका से बेस कैम्प के लिए और 3 किमी की चढ़ाई शुरू हो जाती है। मैं तकरीबन दोपहर के एक बजे नीलकण्ठ पहाड़ के बेस कैम्प पहुंच गया था।
आसपास बर्फ थी, ठंडी हवा चल रही थी, धूप थी लेकिन फिर भी मुझे ठंड लग रही थी। अब तक कुछ और लोग भी यहां तक पहुंच चुके थे। आधा घंटा पहाड़ के साथ बिताकर मैं वापस निकल पड़ा अपने कमरे की ओर जिसकी रजाई और बैड मुझे बहुत याद आ रहा था। मुझे पहुंचने में 5 घण्टे लगे वापस आने में ढाई घंटा लगा।
