I captured this photo as I walked through the triumphal arch into Saint Petersburg's Palace Square with Victoria. The arch which separates the two wings of the general staff building also commemorates the Russian victory during the Napoleonic invasion of Russia in 1812. The stunning green building of Winter Palace is visible in the background and is home to one of the biggest collections of European art started by Catherine the Great. The palace not only holds one of the biggest museums in the world, but it has also witnessed some of the most remarkable events in European history. Saint Petersburg is incredibly beautiful and is one of my favourite cities in the world.
