Yarra Glen is northeast of Melbourne.
Nice open spaces, with many wineries & specialist stores, cafes etc for a very good day trip, or if you have the time, a nice weekend away.
There are many, many wineries. So, you really just need to pick 1 or 2.
At Domain Chandon, there is a $10 fee & they give you a tasting of 6 different wines.
None of them really stood out for my taste but it was a good experience.
With the weather being so lovely, the crowds were out too. This made my introvert side recoil a little. But, chaperoning sime friends from Taiwan made it more fun.
Next we went to Yarra Glen Dairy.
Some cheese, trout, prosciutto, pickled olives & bread & crackers made for a delicious lunch.
Always a selection of local preserves and sauces.
And, finally, a chocolate factory.
It was packed with people. Being warm, ice cream had a huge line of people.
This was a bit much for me. I'd rather come on a poor weather day and hope it would keep the crowds away. 😉
There were all sorts of chocolate & some samples to taste.
And, non chocolate things, like hand cream & soaps, that smell like chocolate!
The views were spectacular and we ended with an ice cream.
A very quick, but tiring day.
