One thing I love about traveling is seeing all the different types of places people live and how different the architecture is. The most colourful place I've ever visited has to be the little island of Burano in the Venetian lagoon of Italy.
Burano is a small beautiful island full of rainbow coloured fisherman houses with a canals running through it.
The legend is that fisherman were the very first ones to paint their houses in bold bright colours so they could easily spot them through fog.
This purple house was my favourite. I love all the foliage and the flowers. Isn't it pretty?
There is a main square with many restaurants and nice patios. Since Burano is an island, it's best known for its seafood. I didn't get a chance to try any food in Burano but the seafood in Venice was deliciously fresh. There are also many shops selling handmade lace as that is also one of Burano's specialities.
Burano is small but there are many beautiful details to explore. It's so picturesque, it's perfect for photos.
Burano is repeatedly named in travel magazines as one of the top 10 most colourful places in the world and I definitely agree. It's one of the most memorable places I've been.
Burano is easily accessible by ferry through Venice and worth the trip. You can also read more about Burano here. I hope you enjoyed my post and thank you for reading! What are some colourful places you've seen or would like to visit?
