We’ve all heard of the Gobi Desert and probably imagined a vast area of seeming desolation. At first glance, it definitely does seem harsh and desolate.
How could people survive in such an environment? And who in their right mind would want to go to the Gobi for a vacation - other than me, of course?
Well, it’s exactly the fact that it is so different from my usual environment that made it such an exciting place for me to visit.
Yes, I stayed in this kind of yurt for a week.
Located partly in southern Mongolia and partly in northern China, the Gobi is one of the few places where a person can fall completely off the radar.
