Hello Steemians,
In this post, I will share with you some more pictures from my trip to the Rinca island, back in July 2009.
Upon arrival at the island, we registered at the ticket office, and got ourselves a trekking guide, a ranger. The ranger carried a forked stick around with him, to fend off any dragons that would like to get close. We encountered no problems though.
The ranger also told us to be aware of baby Komodos, that live up on the trees. They can bite, too. That made me a bit nervous when we were going through trees, but again nothing untoward happened.
Komodo dragons cannibalize, that's why baby Komodos live up on the trees during their early lives, to avoid being eaten by the older ones. They come down from the trees, when they become too heavy to climb up.
And so off we went, on our island trek.
Can you spot the monkeys?
Buffalo ...
and his best friend, waiting ...
It was rather hot, but the views of the savannah, with the lontar palms and the many dry bushes were simply stunning.
We passed by another buffalo having his spa treatment;
Best things in life are free
It was such a wonderful walk, but time flew so fast, the sun was going down, and we had to get back to the boat.
We would spend the night on the boat, and the next day we would visit the other island of the park, the Komodo Island.
Watching the sun set from the boat was another highlight of the trip. What can I say. The sky was showing off to us. So many different colours.
And that's all for today. I hope you liked my post, and that you will follow me to my next one.
Have a good day, and we'll speak again soon!
