✌ Cyprus.
I had a trip to Cyprus in the plan for years. However, several details have always been missing,
I will not lie if I say that I was effectively 'disturbed' by Greece, in which climate I am (I was?) in love. It is difficult to call Cyprus a big change from Greece, after all the climate is quite similar. It was a trip more for leisure than for a very intense tour. I did not visit the Turkish part of Cyprus at all, which I regret and will have to make up for!
What first caught my eye was left-hand traffic. Fortunately, the vast majority of the car rental company has a fleet equipped with an automatic transmission. Try to get into the driver's seat on the right and shift the gear your left (!) hand. On the automatic transmission, driving is definitely easier, more pleasant and certainly safer. However, it takes time to change.
Paphos itself, from which I had a base - does not impress. If not beautiful weather, proximity to the sea, a bit of monuments - I would even say that it is quite sad.
As a great fan of antiquity, I could not forgive myself if I did not go to the Royal Tombs from the 4th century BC. - the necropolis where the aristocrats and dignitaries were buried. The tombs were carved in solid rock. The area to visit is considerable, and that's where their name comes from, because no king was buried here. The tombs are inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Noteworthy attractions include the archaeological park and the Castle. The area near the port of Paphos has made a very positive impression on me. It's nice to stroll along the promenade in the sunshine!
I would not be myself if I did not bathe on different beaches! This is what relaxes me most on trips. Clean sea, beautiful weather and palm trees.
From the beaches north of Paphos, I recommend going to Coral Bay. This is the beach for a lazy afternoon. Hidden in the bay, practically without waves, clean.
Still further there are Toxeftra and Lara Beach. But it's a higher driving school, especially on a windy day - the waves are really high, you have to be careful.
Being in Cyprus, you can not go to the birthplace of Aphrodite - ***Petra Tou Ramiou. ***The myths say that Kronos, wanting to take revenge on his father Uranos, cut off his seed and threw it into the sea. In the place where the water fell, it foamed, and out of the foam came the goddess of love and beauty - Aphrodite. The myths also say that anyone who takes a bath in the vicinity of Aphrodite's rock will receive the blessing of eternal beauty. It's good that I bathed a few times! : D You can circumnavigate the stone, perhaps the power will be greater.
Traveling south coast we reach Limassol - the second largest city of Cyprus. What particularly stuck in my memory is the promenade. You go and you can feel like in California. :) Beautiful!
Interesting is also a small town in the port itself, but the entrance is forbidden and the entrance is guarded.
Here, as well as all over Cyprus, you will find a lot of cats... Cats here abundance. Once upon a time, they had the task of dealing with the invasion of snakes, which multiply after the drought. And so it has already been.
Driving further east, stop at the salt lake near Larnaca. If you're lucky, meet the pink flamingos. ;) I did not succeed, however. But the very endlessness of the lake, where there was no water is impressive.
A quick swim in Mackenzie Beach had to become a fact. The beach is in the vicinity of the airport, sometimes you can find really big planes flying overhead.
Leaving Larnaca, it's time to take off Ayia Napa and her beautiful beach Nissi Beach. The water is crystal clear there, it makes an amazing impression! If you've been to the Balos Lagoon in Crete, you know what I'm talking about.
When traveling, be sure to stop by some banana plantation!
In general, I recommend the island. If you liked Greece, there is a good chance that you will like it here. Sun, sea, palm trees. It always works!
And you? Have you been to Cyprus? Do you have your favorite places?
