Yesterday I did a beach clean up in Cahuita, Costa Rica. The normally beautiful beaches were flooded by the heavy rain there, which is apparently very unusual for this season. Playa Negro was full of debris from the land and ocean, with many pieces of plastic hidden inbetween the ripped branches and weeds.
I asked someone if he would like to help, but he said he does not feel like picking up trash. In my opinion cleaning the beaches is not merely picking up trash, what it really means is saving the ocean from plastic and other polluting materials! Remember, every piece of plastic you take from the beach could save a life of a fish, bird, turtle or other sea animal!
I hope with our joined effort we can make a change in the way people see things, and change our consumption (simple: buy less products with plastic!!) and the way we are treating our environment! No government or organisation will be able to solve this problem if not ALL of us start acting now.
For a better world! Much love to all of you <3
PS: This is the amount I colleted within 30 mins of my clean up:
