Last week I had the privilege of visiting, although not well known, one of the most beautiful islands in the world: Anguilla. Anguilla is situated next to St. Martin, hence in the Caribbean Sea. We landed in St. Martin first, however, because Anguilla is a very small island with a tiny airport.
Sorry for the shaky camera, the landing was a little rough. I like to joke that the pilot “dropped the plane” rather than landing it. Before that the ride was very enjoyable, however.
To get from St. Martin to Anguilla, we took a boat and used the company GB Ferries. The ride was very enjoyable and even scenic. St. Martin has beautiful green mountains on the water, and since the French and Dutch own it, it almost felt as if we were in Paris when we crossed through the French territory.
After arriving in Anguilla, we took a taxi to our condo. Driving in Anguilla is an experience within itself. They have one main road for the most part, and we only saw three cars. Nobody follows the rules of the road, so it’s good that there are fewer cars there. On the ride we saw many goats and chickens, far more than people.
Our condo was amazing! It had a beautiful view of the ocean.
After arriving we walked on the beach to Straw Hat, which was less than a quarter mile away from hotel. The theme was straw hats (obviously). The chandeliers had straw hats on them, covering the lights. Even the bread was served in a straw hat!
