Seems like an amazing trip 😊 I usually do the same... I check if there are some cheap train tickets or flights (on google flights). Then I check whether I have friends living at the destination or if I can find some reasonably priced accommodation. If this is the case, the trip is book! Iceland is definitely on my bucket list.
