Diese Traumreise im Frühjahr 2010 verdanke ich meinem Freund Paul, der mich damit für meine Ausdauer beim A-Schein (BFA Binnen) belohnen wollte und sich gleichzeitig über eine Reisebegleitung freute.

Damals war ich auch gerade drauf und dran, auch noch den Segelschein FB2 zu machen, und hatte schon den entsprechenden Kurs absolviert. https://meerflair.at/de/ausbildung/fahrtbereich-2-3
Weiter als zu einem mehrtägigen Skippertraining in den Kornaten brachte ich es dann allerdings nicht mehr. Es hätte mir fü rmch keinerlerlei Nutzen gehabt weiterzumachen, daher ließ ich es. Aber ich bin glücklich, dass ich in diese von Kindheit auf ersehnte Welt hineinschnuppern durfte.
Hier aber geht es aber einmal nur um die wertvolle "Belohnung", diese wahrliche Luxus-Segelkreuzfahrt in den Kleine Antillen, beginnend und endend auf Barbados.

Die ausgewählten Bilder sollen ein wenig zum Träumen einladen. Viel mehr Bildmaterial schlummert noch auf alten Festplatten und sogar noch auf der Sony-Kamera direkt. Mein Leben in den letzten Jahren ist so bewegt, dass ich viel Bildmaterial von Reisen und anderen Ereignissen noch nicht korrekt (damit meine ich auffindbar bzw. verfügbar!) archiviert habe. Nach und nach werden nun diese Schätze gehoben!
Auch wenn die Reisegäste auf der Sea Cloud II selbstverständlich nur der Crew zuschauen und nicht selbst zupacken dürfen, ich versäumte natürlich kein einiges Mal, der Mannschaft beim Setzen der Segel zuzuschauen. Günstige Winde wurden genutzt, aber um voranzukommen, lief das Schiff natürlich auch immer wieder unter Motor.
Das Erkundungsprogramm übertraf alle meine Erwartungen. Meiner Abenteuerlust kam natürlich am meisten ein Ausflug mit einem schnittigen Katamaran zu einem Taucherparadies entgegen. So schnell werde ich nie wieder eine solche bunte Artenvielfalt beim Schnorcheln erleben! Aufenthalte an Traumstränden und das Kennenlernen der karibischen Gelassenheit allein waren schon die Reise wert.
Manche Stunden in diesen zauberhaften Inselwelt erlebte ich trotz klaren, sonnigen Wetters eher verschwommen, denn man entgeht dort einfach nirgends dem sonnig-gelblichen oder orangefarbenen karibischen Punsch, der es fürchterlich in sich hat. Die Hauptzutat dürfte der Rum sein... Und schon bald hat man den Eindruck, dass man zu diesem drastischen Mittel greift, um uns allzu hektische Europäer auf die karibische "Don't worry, be happy!"-Mentalität herunterzubremsen...

In der wundervollen White Bay auf der Insel Jost van Dyke in der legenderären Soggy Dollar Bar habe ich natürlich den berühmten Pain Killer ausprobiert. Glaubt mir, nach dem zweiten spürt man wirlich keinen Schmerz mehr, sondern schaut nur ungläubig staunend und zufrieden wie ein Säugling dem bunten Treiben am Strand zu oder erholt sich in einer Hängematte, so man einer habhaft wird.

Echten Piraten sind wir glücklicherweise nicht begegnet, aber unzählige fliegende Fische konnten wir beobachten und einmal begleiteten uns kurz Delphine. Meeresschildkröten konnten wir in einer Tierschutzstation sehen. Die Führung durch eine Kakaoplantage stand ebenfalls auf dem Programm. Nur schwer konnte ich meinen Willen durchsetzen, aber bekam dann schließlich doch ein Einheimischengetränk zu verkosten, das für unseren Gaumen etwas sonderbar ist. Auf der Plantage trinken die Angestellten einen Mix aus Kakao und Tee.

I owe this dream voyage in spring 2010 to my friend Paul, who wanted to reward me for my perseverance with my sailing certificate and at the same time was happy about a travel companion. At that time I was also just about to get my FB2 sailing licence and had already completed the corresponding course.
But I couldn't go any further than a skipper training in the Kornati islands in Croatia. It would have been of no use to me to continue, so I didn't. But I am happy that I was allowed to sniff into this world longed for since childhood.

The selected pictures should invite you to dream a little. Much more footage is still waiting on old hard drives and even directly on my Sony camera. My life in the last few years has been so eventful that I have not yet archived a lot of pictures of journeys and other events correctly (by this I mean discoverable or available!). Little by little, these treasures are now being discovered!
Even if the passengers on the Sea Cloud II are of course only allowed to watch the crew and not to grab on their own, I of course never failed to watch the crew set sail. Favourable winds were used, but in order to make progress, the ship of course also ran again and again under engine.
The program exceeded all my expectations. Of course, my thirst for adventure was most met by an excursion with a racy catamaran to a diving paradise somewhere at St. Vincent and the Grenadines. I will never again experience such a colourful diversity of snorkelling so fast! Stays at dream beaches and getting to know the Caribbean serenity were already worth the trip.
Despite clear, sunny weather, some hours in this enchanting island world I experienced rather blurred, because one simply does not escape there the sunny-yellowish or orange Caribbean punch. The main ingredient is probably rum...
Soon you get the impression that this drastic means is being used to slow down us all too hectic Europeans to be tuned into the Caribbean "Don't worry, be happy!" mentality...

Believe me, after the second one you don't really feel any more pain, but just watch the colourful hustle and bustle on the beach - with amazement and satisfaction like an infant, or people would recover in a hammock, if one gets hold of it.

Fortunately we did not meet real pirates, but we could observe countless flying fish and once dolphins accompanied us briefly. We could see sea turtles in an animal sanctuary.
The guided tour through a cocoa plantation was also on the programme. It was difficult for me to get my way, but I finally got to taste a local drink, which is a bit strange for our palate. On the plantation the employees drink a mix of cocoa and tea.
