Sharing a lovely experience when we visited Paris some years back. Arriving at the Charles de Gaulle Airport, we took the city train to Paris and got off at the Metro station Notre Dame de Lorette. It was just a couple of blocks away to our hotel and we need to walk along Rue de Chateaudun to reach it.
Feeling tired from the flight, we stopped by in front of a building where I saw a sign board that had the symbol of philippine flag, curious enough, I read it and I was so surprised and can´t believe what I saw... I was standing in front of a building where Jose Rizal lived while he was in Paris. It was a small world and I really didn´t expect it. So excited that when we arrived at the hotel, I immediately asked for the WLAN connection so I could research more about his stay in Paris.
This signboard made me curious, I thought it is where the Philippine Embassy offices were located
A french lady who lives in this historic building was about to enter the front door and she saw me reading the sign board. She began telling us with pride that Rizal who lived here, was a great hero who played the key role in the Philippine revolution of 1896. She was so excited telling us what she knew especially when I told her where I come from.
It had been reported that Rizal had a hard time looking for a dwelling place at that time of his stay in Paris ... but found one and had the apartment just opposite the Plaza that was named after him. 22 Place José Rizal , Rue Meubeuge, 75009 Paris (9th Arrondissement) is the exact address of the Plaza dedicated to him.
The best surprise for me was that this small Plaza is just beside our hotel, such a fantastic opportunity to have experience this, really !!! The corner of the Brasserrie on the left is adjascent to our hotel.
This Brasserrie or Café is located in front of this triny Plaza where I tasted a real french Tarte Au Citron (Lemon Tart) and cafe´au lait.
