The Valley of the Whales is located within the Wadi Al Rayan Nature Reserve, covering an area of 1759 km in Fayoum Governorate, 150 km from Cairo, Egypt. In the Valley of the Whales, there were 10 complete structures of whales that lived in the area some 40 million years ago, where they were part of a large area encompassing North Africa. In 2005, the Wadi Al-Hitan region was designated a World Heritage Site and was chosen by UNESCO as the World Heritage Site for Whale Skeleton.
The Whale Valley is known for the existence of full whale fossils in the region 40 million years ago when the valley was located under a huge ocean (Teth Sea), as well as many marine fossils that can be seen in the open museum, allowing visitors to see whales and protect them.
This desert used to be the bottom of the sea millions of years ago
