Montreux is a small town on the shoreline of Lake Geneva. Around an hour train ride from Geneva. Lake Geneva is 73 kms and the largest lake in the Western Europe region. Many small towns are on the shoreline of this Lake and they offer some scenic views of the place. Montreux is a small town yet famous for many things like one of the most famous ones is the Chillon Castle and the other is the Freddie Mercury - Queen - The Studio Experience and the Freddie Mercury memorial. Montreux also has a very good weather. In the summer time there is a Jazz festival that happens every year and is quite a craze across Switzerland. The guide told me that during this time Montreux is the only place in whole of Switzerland when the shops remain open till midnight.
On this day I was alone as hubby was busy with his office work, and I do enjoy once in a while being alone. I had planned a day trip to Montreux. The plan was to visit the Chaplin House in Vevey which is 15 minutes from Montreux by train and then come to Montreux, visit the Chillon Castle, Freddie Mercury studio, market area and then spend time at the promenade. It was a perfect day. Everything went smoothly as per the plan.
The stealer attraction here is the Freddie Mercury statue
There are flower beds in patches alongside the promenade.
This is a hotel facing the Lake. I am sure people want to stay here for the views.
I guess this place is for the Jazz festival, where there would be performances happening.
The first look, I thought it was a real owl but a good look made me realize it was an artificial one
Some views on the Lake side
Aww this one is so adorable
It was a joyful day for me, because I got to visit places of 2 legends on this day. Firstly the Chaplin House and the other one the Freddie Mercury studio and then these scenic views to top it up all.
