One thing what I observed in Italy at every place was that almost everything had art reflecting in it. This was at our Hotel stay in Milan. San Guido is a 100 years old Hotel in Milan and it is known for it's traditional designs. This Hotel is a landmark in this area. The Hotel is priced on a slightly higher side, but still not very steep and I can say value for money. I had booked it only for 1 night at the end of our trip when we were returning from Rome and had 1 night in Milan before taking our flight back home. I got some very good deal for the 1 night stay. The rooms were big and spacious unlike other places where I was really put off with the size of the rooms. What I liked about the place was the Hotel Lobby, it had a very warm and cozy Italian touch and full of artifacts.
The other good part of this Hotel was there was a bus stop right outside the hotel and a metro stop at a 100 meters walk. To the Duomo there was a bus every 15 minutes which was very convenient. In this area I found many Asian restaurants also. I was actually feeling fed up of the Italian cuisine and wanted some change, there were 2 Asian cuisine restaurants just opposite the hotel, and I had my last day all meals there.
Coming back to the hotel artifacts. It reminded me of some of the treasures at one of my aunt's place back in India. She had some very antic pieces at her place. After she passed away sadly the relative who took over everything never valued these things and sold off everything for money. I am sure he must have got good money of it.
This was all in the hotel lobby, the lobby looked more of a musuem.
This is a Clothes hanger of the olden times. I have seen that in the olden times people did grand things, nowadays we are so space crunched that we cannot think of having such leisure furniture in the house, unless one has a big space to fit in.
Some walking sticks
In my place, these type of clocks are called Grandfather's clock. I would love to have one of these at my place. The day I go back to India permanently I have thought of getting one of these types.
Another one
A fancy seating bench
Some other fancy things
Most of these things now you see in museums. I am sure having these things in possession is very valuable. The Hotel gave very good vibes and the staff was extremely courteous, we had a demand a of late check out, even though they were running full, they accommodated our request at a very reasonable cost. I wish I could have booked this hotel for our entire stay. I had even tried, but the price was too high and was not fitting into my budget. In every way it was the most convenient place to stay in Milan.
